Xangati Remote Object Viewer (ROV)

Xangati Remote Object Viewer (ROV) provides real-time, continuous visibility into the communications activity, resource usage, and network latency of a remote object. Designed to work with a Xangati Management Dashboard (XMD), Xangati ROV enables administrators and other users to have live views into the continuous activity of a remote object (server, application, desktop) without providing access to the full XMD.

Live visibility into a remote object enables its user to:

  • See what the remote object is doing—right now and historically
  • Trigger DVR recordings of activity for visual troubleshooting
  • See network latency to a location of their choosing

The Xangati Remote Object Viewer (ROV) is an optional separate, simple, thin client that talks to a XMD offering live views and historical reporting on a specific object.

For administrators, ROVs display all the communications, latency, and resource usage for the remote object so you know what is happening: What applications are running? How much bandwidth is each application, protocol, and port consuming? Is the user of the remote object watching HD YouTube videos? Posting to Facebook? ROV even displays (and records) network latency from the remote object to the identities with highest latency and to a predefined location that can be overridden at any time by the ROV end user. For VMs, ROV also adds CPU usage, memory usage, and storage-byte rate (read and write). VDI implementations assign ROVs to every desktop to resolve performance problems quickly. When problems appear, administrators use the ROV to test network latency between the actual virtual desktop and any point in the infrastructure.

For end-users, they can easily create and submit DVR recordings to capture what is happening when performance of their desktop or application is not deemed acceptable. Administrators use these recordings to help identify and quickly resolve the problem. Recordings can also trigger the opening of a trouble ticket in your existing service desk system and allow the DVR recording to be appended to the trouble ticket as a visual note.
