SOCITM 2009 Annual Conference and Exhibition

IP Performance were proud to be exhibiting again at SOCITM (The Society of Information Technology Management)'s 2009 Conference and Exhibition at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, 11-13 October. The IP Performance Team enjoyed discussing technologies, emerging trends and business drivers with delegates and fellow exhibitors, and demonstrating products and solutions from our wide portfolio.

The IP Performance team held their perennial prize competition and draw, "guess the total list price of the kit in the comms rack". The 1st prize was a Nintendo DS, won by Paul Evans of Exeter County Council. The winner of the 2nd prize, an iPod shuffle, was Paul Beckley of BIG Lottery Fund. The joint 3rd prize winners of a USB Photo Frame were Andy Cole of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Andy Kirkham of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Tony Ellis of Brent Council. Congratulations to all our winners!

The theme of SOCITM 2009 was of re-inventing local public services – radical thinking, practical solutions.

The recession and subsequent impact on public spending - local government expert Tony Travers told a SOCITM audience recently to expect 0% growth for the next 10 years – means all public services must ‘think radical’ about how to meet future needs at a time of relentlessly growing demand.

SOCITM 2009 provided a timely opportunity for delegates to debate the options with a uniquely qualified set of invited speakers, and to share ideas and experiences with their peers about the future faced by those delivering, and using, local public services.

SOCITM is the professional association representing senior managers in public sector ICT, particularly in local authorities and other locally delivered public service like the Police, Fire & Rescue services, housing associations and larger voluntary sector organisations. The annual conference draws its delegates from the SOCITM membership, which includes Directors or Heads of ICT and/or Senior ICT Managers, Elected members and heads of corporate functions like e-government, transformation, corporate resources and finance.
