Post Production: Well-attended Events see HMX in Action at De Lane Lea Studios
IP Performance and Avocent Corporation held their first Technology Updates of the year at a series of four half-day sessions hosted at the De Lane Lea studios, in Dean Street, Soho, London.
In these sessions we explored the advances in KVM solutions for the studio/ editing environment, learning how De Lane Lea have used these solutions to significantly reduce the editing time whilst keeping the required high performance all through a simple IP connection, and how the Avocent solution can keep the audio and video editing/mixing professional one step ahead.
Pierre Ketteridge, Technical Pre-Sales Consultant at IP Performance, and Ian Paul, Channel Manager at Avocent Corporation, gave presentations on the technology, product lines and post-production industry case studies, while Gary Harris, Sales Engineer at Avocent Corporation, carried out a practical demonstration of the HMX Series' capabilities.
The events were well-attended, with guests from many of the well-known and respected Soho post production community, as well as those from further afield, including Twickenham and Pinewood Studios.
Soho-based post production film studio De Lane Lea have selected the Avocent HMX Desktop-over-IP solution to significantly reduce the workflow lifecycle in editing cinematic audio effects and soundtracks. De Lane Lea came to IP Performance to help evaluate and select a high-performance, high-bandwidth KVM product to physically separate the human I/O elements (screen, keyboard, mouse, tablet) from the processing and storage units of their Mac-based Digidesign Pro Tools HD systems, in order to reduce ambient noise in the sound studios, and to speed up the audio editing post production workflow.
