NextGen 11 Annual Conference, UWE Bristol

IP Performance were delighted to sponsor, and proud to be exhibiting at the NextGen 11 Conference, held this year at the UWE Conference Centre in Bristol on the 15th and 16th November.

The NextGen programme comprises regional Roadshow events throughout the year, annual conferences and the NextGen Challenge - the UK′s premier awards for NG Infrastructure projects. Now in its 4th year, NextGen was created by the Community Broadband Network (CBN). NextGen is the UK's showcase for Next Generation broadband activity - enabling a wider understanding of digital network investment as the essential foundation for local economic growth and innovation.

The agenda for NextGen always reflects the key messages arising from the Roadshows and the impacts on the UK′s growth agenda

Hosted this year by Bristol City Council (BCC), the conference featured keynote sessions (representatives from regional Government and European Agencies, sponsors); Technical, NGA, and Societal workshops; recorded interviews and panel discussions. Speakers from Ofcom, INCA, the EU presented on a wide variety of subjects pertaining to Superfast Broadband pland and adoption. Many of IP Performance's business partners and consortium partners were in attendance and presenting, including Bristol City Council (BCC), Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC), and Digital Region.

The NextGen Challenge 2011 awards dinner was held on the Tuesday at Bordeaux Quay on the waterfront in Bristol, and addressed by Stephen Hilton of Bristol City Council, Malcolm Corbett of INCA, and the Lord Mayor of Bristol, Geoffrey Gollop.

In the category "Rural Leadership and Community Development", the winner was NYnet, while the runner up was the University of Edinburgh with its Tegola project. The category "Innovative Funding" was won by Cybermoor Networks, with Clackmannanshire Council's ClacksMax project the runner up, while the winning entry in the "Collaborative Advantage" category was E2BN (Connection Schools) and the runner up was Superfast Cornwall.

Having attended and sponsored several NextGen Roadshow events in the past, IP Performance were delighted to be sponsoring and exhibiting at the Annual Conference on their own doorstep, and look forward to participating in many more NetGen Roadshows and Conferences!
