Alcatel-Lucent

Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess WLAN Solutions

Alcatel-Lucent's next generation WLAN solution is a highly scalable, comprehensive set of mobile LAN products that automatically identify and authenticate users as they connect to the network. Once user identity is established, it enables "follow-me" privileges, security and services - something no other enterprise system provides today. This sophisticated technology gives corporations the power to manage and secure people rather than ports.

Alcatel-Lucent's OmniAccess range of mobile WLAN products fall into three categories - Access Points (APs), WLAN Switches (or Mobility Controllers) and associated functional software modules, and the OmniVista Mobility Manager NMS.

Access Points

AP41 - The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess AP41 is a single radio, multi-band (802.11 a/b/g) thin access point. The OmniAccessAP41 has an internal antenna and can be deployed via wall jacks in the user space.

AP60 & AP61 -The Alcate-Lucent OmniAccess AP60 and AP61 (OAW-AP60 and OAW-AP61) are single radio, 802.11a or b/g access points (APs) designed for dense wireless deployments. The Alcate-Lucent OAW-AP60 and OAW-AP61 deliver superior capacity, performance, and coverage.

AP65 -Designed for use exclusively with OmniAccess WLAN switches, with its rear mounted Ethernet interface and integrated ceiling tile rail mounting point, the OmniAccess AP65 is self contained and has a, low-profile design that is ideally suited for discrete deployment applications.

AP70 -The OAWAP70 is a multi-purpose device that can function both as an access point and as an RF monitor-independently or concurrently-across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums. Ideally suited for workspace deployment, the OAW-AP70 can be securely wall or desk-mounted.

AP80 -The OmniAccess AP80M is a dual-radio 802.11a/b/g access point that also supports wireless air monitoring capability. Designed for extreme, all-weather deployment (such as extreme heat, cold, rain), the OmniAccess AP80M operates as a "thin" AP, fully controlled and managed by an OmniAccess WLAN switch.

WLAN Switches (Mobility Controllers)

OAW-4302 -The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 4302 (OAW-4302) Wireless LAN Switch aggregates up to six controlled access points (APs) and delivers integrated mobility, centralized control, convergence services and security for wireless deployments. Designed for branch office, small business and retail store applications, the OmniAccess 4302 can be easily deployed as an overlay without any disruption to the existing network. In addition it can be centrally managed from the corporate headquarters or data center using the OmniVista Mobility Manager System.

OAW-4308 -The Alcatel OmniAccess 4308 (OAW-4308) is a new approach to building, securing, and managing 802.11 networks for enterprises implementing business-critical applications over wireless. For branch office deployments, the OAW-4308 cost effectively delivers high-performance wireless LANs with dynamic radio frequency (RF) management and advanced services such as application-aware security, wireless intrusion protection, seamless user mobility, location tracking, and bandwidth management. The Alcatel OAW-4308 is a stackable, 1U high, fixed-configuration device that seamlessly integrates into any layer-2/layer-3 wired network without requiring the reconfiguration of the network - logically or physically. The Alcatel OAW-4308 provides eight 10/100 Mbps power over Ethernet (802.3af) ports for connecting to access points, layer-2 switches, servers, or computers. In addition, one Gigabit Ethernet uplink (1000BaseT or 1000BaseSX) allows the OAW-4308 to be connected to the wired network. The Alcatel OAW-4308 supports up to 16 access points (APs), 1 Gbps of full-duplex (clear text) traffic, and 200 Mbps of encrypted throughput.

OAW-4324 -The Alcatel OmniAccess 4324 (OAW-4324) is a new approach to building, securing, and managing 802.11 networks for enterprises implementing business-critical applications over wireless networks. For regional headquarters or dense building deployments, the OAW-4324 delivers high-performance wireless LANs with dynamic radio frequency (RF) management and advanced services such as applicationaware security, wireless intrusion protection, seamless user mobility, location tracking and bandwidth management. The Alcatel OAW-4324 is a stackable, 1U high, fixed-configuration device that seamlessly integrates into any layer-2/layer-3 wired network without requiring the reconfiguration of the network - logically or physically. The Alcatel OAW-4324 provides 24 10/100 Mbps power over Ethernet (802.3af) ports for connecting to access points, layer-2 switches, servers, or computers. In addition, two Gigabit Ethernet uplinks allow the OAW-4324 to be connected to the wired network. The Alcatel OAW-4324 supports up to 48 access points (APs), 2 Gbps of full-duplex (clear text) traffic, and 400 Mbps of encrypted throughput.

OAW-6000 -The Alcatel OmniAccess 6000 (OAW-6000) is a new approach to scaling, securing, and managing 802.11 networks for enterprises implementing business-critical applications over wireless networks. For headquarters or campuses, the OAW-6000 delivers high-performance wireless LAN with dynamic radio frequency (RF)management and advanced services such as application-aware security, wireless intrusion protection, seamless user mobility, location tracking and bandwidth management.

Software Modules

Wireless Base Software -Standard with every Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Wireless LAN (WLAN) switch, the base wireless software provides unprecedented control over the entire wireless environment with centralized wireless LAN switching and advanced services.

Policy Enforcement Firewall Module -Alcatel-Lucent's Policy Enforcement Firewall module provides identity-based security to the mobile edge of the network. Where users are mobile, identity-based security is a requirement since users may enter the network at any point, wired or wireless. Alcatel-Lucent's ICSA-certified stateful firewall enables user classification on the basis of user identity, device type, location, and time of day and provides differentiated access for different classes of users.

Remote Access Point Module -Alcatel-Lucent's Remote AP software module enables any Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Wireless LAN (WLAN) access point (OAW-AP) to be securely and easily connected from a remote location to an Alcatel-Lucent mobility controller across the Internet. Ideally suited for small remote offices, home offices, telecommuters and mobile executives, Alcatel-Lucent's Remote AP software module extends the mobile edge to any remote location by enabling seamless corporate wireless data and voice wherever a user finds an Internet connected Ethernet port.

External Services Interface Module -The External Services Interface (ESI) software module provides standards-based extensibility, allowing an Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Wireless LAN (WLAN) switch to communicate with external service devices and support advanced interaction with authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services infrastructure.

VPN Server Module -The Alcatel-Lucent VPN Server module enables Alcatel-Lucent mobility controllers to provide high-performance VPN tunnel termination to internal and external users through a variety of standards-based client software.
